Memorial day is almost here and I haven't made my summer list of goals I probably won't attain. However, this year will be different. I am going to read those Medieval Spanish history books that have been gathering dust next to my bedside. In fact, I'm even going to draw some of the figures on the color plates in a Spanish costume book that a Lady of the Quintavia shire graciously loaned me. Which reminds me - I'm going to work on my figure drawing. Last summer, I bought a pastel and charcoal kit along with a drawing pad, and I think I've sketched about half a torsoe. Maybe I should start by finishing the torsoe.
I will, of course, work on this blog. I will go to a writers workshop and improve my writing so that someday I can write some piece of work and even get paid for it. The Green Mountain Writer's Conference from August 2 to August 6 looks like fun, as does the "Why It's Great" Workshop in Conway, NH from July 19 to July 22
Of course, my list will continue to grow as I let my ambitions run wild. I need to build a little cluster implementation of Oracle 10g, attend Shakespeare on the Common at least once. I'd also like to get out to Tanglewood for a bit of mountain biking and classical music. If I don't go to at least one concert at the Newport Music festival, I will consider the entire summer a failure. Perhaps if I practice my fencing well enough and get my Spanish personae finished, I'll fence in an SCA event.
